my last mountain hike before the meniscus operation, at 2000 meters on the shore of the lac de Pormenaz, au pied des Fiz, face au Mont-Blanc, France (Sunday 18 July 2004)

in naturalibus Lac de Pormenaz, France -- too tempted by the clear mountain lake, jumped in for 3 minutes. Note the snow on the far shore (18 July 2004)
regressing a bit the Großer Aletsch glacier is Europe's biggest glacier: 23 kilometers of enticing ice and crystallized danger (10 Sept.2004) wat is het koud zeg!

sure cools you down quick swim in the Märjelesee maybe 10° C (10 September 2004, 2 p.m.) some hikers applauded level with the Großer Aletsch glacier, behind me the Dreieckhorn. - on to the Gletcherstube for a hot drink!
