ich hoffe, ich darf bei der vertraulichen Anrede aus den 70iger Jahren bleiben! Herzlichen Glückwunsch zur eigenen HomePage! Auf einer Berliner Veranstaltung zu "Deutscher Erinnerungskultur und Vertreibung" fiel mehrfach Dein Name und rief mir vergangene Göttinger Zeiten in Erinnerung.
Wie Prof. Rauschning (siehe unten) würde ich gern wieder in Kontakt kommen und an die Göttinger Zeiten anknüpfen (auch wenn ich kaum erwarten kann, dass Du Dich noch an mich erinnerst).

just finished my pre-lims and am defending my dissertation in february
it is a study of the germania club of chicago that will do much to unveil the 1848'ers and the Civil War veterans who fought for Lincoln
it is entitled Founded at the Bier of Lincoln: A History of the Germania Club of Chicago 1865-1986
by the way,
daley and schulter are helping to renovate the DANK Haus in Chicago...the glory of germania painting might go up there...
will you come to any opening?

As a victim of ethnic cleansing I am very pleased to see your name and your continuing support for human rights on the internet. For years, I have had your books: “Die Anglo-Amerikaner und die Vertreibung der Deutschen, A Terrible Revenge The - Ethnic Cleansing…, and Die Wehrmacht- Untersuchungsstelle..“ in my collection of historical books about the “Vertreibung”. As a member of the „Karpatendeutsche“ (in Slovakia), living now in the USA, I am astounded by the lack of knowledge of this historical event in this country. Americans do not like to look at the past, consequently, they do not learn from it. The Germans, in turn, having paid dearly for their WWII atrocities are, with their “Selbstkritik“ (as you pointed out in the “Der Geistige Wiederaufbau”) inhibiting a cleansing of their “Geistigen Schaffenskraft”.
Your activity, I hope, will sponsor a rethinking in the direction of, as I see it: “Each country will have to decide for itself on how much it contributed to the wellbeing and how much to the misery of life on this earth”.

Dear Mr de Zayas, I have recently read Alexander Dallin's hefty work entitled German Rule in Russia
1941-45, for which I believe he won a Wolfson Prize.
He was of course David Dallin's son, also well known
The book appears fairly - but not altogether well
documented on that difficult time. Do you have any
thoughts on the author or this work? It is well out of
print and the few being offered on the internet go for
from from $600-800, which I find amazing.

Mit großer Freude hatte ich gesehen, daß Du vor einiger Zeit bei meinen Bundesbrüdern in München einen Vortrag gehalten hast – leider war ich durch einen Dreh in London im Public Record Office verhindert.
Der Anlaß meiner heutigen Mail ist, daß ich unser altes Thema noch einmal in Form eines Videofilms/DVD aufgreifen möchte und neben neuen Statements von Zeitzeugen, Archivmaterial und Dokumenten sehr gerne ein Interview mit Dir machen würde.
Das sollte diesmal länger und ausführlicher sein als Deine eher kurzen Statements in den beiden alten Lübbe-Filmen und sich mit der völkerrechtlichen Frage von Kriegsverbrechen im Allgemeinen, der WUSt. aber auch mit der grundsätzlichen Frage der ungleichen Behandlung der Opfer befassen. Einzelheiten würden wir ja noch abstimmen können.
Daher vorab meine grundsätzliche Frage und Bitte, ob Du generell zu einem solchen Interview bereit bist.
Es würde mich sehr freuen, wieder von Dir zu hören.

Ich habe das Buch Kriegsverbrechen in Europa und im Nahem Osten im 20. Jahrhundert erworben und es zu einem großen Teil bereits gelesen. Was ich bisher gelesen habe überzeugt mich, dass es sich dabei um eines der korrektesten und aufrechtesten Bücher zu diesem Thema handelt und dass wir dir und Herrn Seidler hier in Mitteleuropa zu Dank verpflichtet sind, bedauerlicherweise ist es nicht zu erwarten, dass man das in unserer Lebenszeit anerkennen wird.
Jedenfalls gibt es nun ein Buch , dass man zitieren kann, wenn die Presse wieder einmal einen der vielen Fälle von Kriegsverbrechen aus dem II WK für ihre Zwecke missbraucht, da es zumeist die in diesem Buch angeführten Fälle sind die in der Öffentlichkeit Wellen schlagen, ohne das man sie wissenschaftlich und juristisch korrekt behandeln würde, hat man nun ein starkes Argument auf seiner Seite.
Alles Gute für die weitere Arbeit.
